And then I hit "that" time of the month. It seems that every month I do well - if not perfect then easily in the 75-80% good range of eating healthy and moving. I don't hit all my goals or make the progress I want, but I am not "standing still". And then -
Wednesday was my scheduled rest day, and I took it. And then I unintentionally took Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as rest days. And ate junk food - mostly because it was time to go shopping and we had basically no food left, but still.
Not getting my runs in for 4 days has left me angry, irritable, depressed and feeling disgusted with myself. Another month of doing at least okay and then spiraling out of control when the hormones rage. I need a new plan of attack for next month. And I need to get back on track today.
Do you have to deal with PMS or other mood/emotional situations that throw you off your game? How do you cope?
OMGosh! I love your picture! It is easy to fall into the rest and junk food when you are tired and haven't hit the store. I find my rest day has to include an hour walk.
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good with the PMS issue because I just had a baby, but I have had a rough go with a back fusion right after the birth. I've been coping by staying active, very very active.
Hope you find something that will work for you. Oh and welcome, I missed your post last week.
Welcome to the sistahood! :) I agree w. Megan! I love your picture! Truly describes how I am feeling some days! Yes PMS totally throws me off of my game. You are not alone!
ReplyDeletehappens to me every month. today i swapped a snickers bar for natural chocolate hazelnut butter with an organic rice cake because i had to figure out a way to get SOME chocolate in and I'm totally calling this a win. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSkipping throws me off my game. I try to stay in a grove and not stop for anything, because if I do - that's it - I can take a month off (or even two). Here is my advice though - just because u skipped your workout - doesn't mean that you are failure - watch what you eat. It shouldn't feel like a snow ball - just a step off. Chin up - today is another day
ReplyDeleteI absolutely do. Every month I get a migraine and I give myself the excuse to take time off, but let it lag longer than necessary. I'm still figuring out how to power through.
ReplyDeleteThat is how I feel too! I didn't even really think about it, but both me and my stepdaughter had the munchies all weekend, and it was that time for both of us. I told her next time she was over it was only health food in the house! She is actually my workout buddy typically too. I guess in the past, exercise actually has helped during that time. So I would suggest sticking with it (and I guess I will take my own advice next time).
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain!!! I get like this every month. I am excited to see how you work through it. Good luck this week!!
ReplyDeletewelcome to the Sisterhood! Your picture cracks me up. I totally feel your pain. hard to get in workouts when pms' or stressed. that is me right now. Rain and gloom isn't helping me either. I am so greatful to have a wii so I can excercise rain or shine. Often to cope, when I am stressed out, if it is beautiful outdoors, I take the kids and go for a walk/jog around neigborhood. helps cure my mood, and get active at the same time. it help release the good hormones and makes me feel better!
ReplyDeleteGAFlyGirl - my 4yr took the pic :) and one of himself making the same face. He thought it was hysterical.
ReplyDeleteI find that if I take more than one day in a row off, I have a harder time getting back on track. (Heck, even one day off throws me way off track!)
ReplyDeleteI deal with PMS by walking. I deal with everything by walking, haha. It works for me, and keeps me from going crazy. I hope you're able to find what works for you & your body.
Love the pic! I understand how you feel sometimes I get really annoyed when a workout is missed. But eventually you can get back on track. Good luck this week
